Rafael Alberti Foundation

The Rafael Alberti Foundation is located inside a building of 2.000 square metres thet houses the donation made by Rafael Alberti, who was one of the leading lights of the Generation of '27, and his first wife, María Teresa León, to the poet's native city.

This family house, where Alberti lived as a child, contains a collection of funds that cover a century of the history of Spain: manuscripts, letters, audiovisual documents and distinctions as well as a magnificent library.  

The "Rafael Alberti: A century of living creation" Permanent Exhibition, displays the poet's biography with wide panels with photographs, drawings and calligraphic poems in a pleasant chronological journey. 

Rafael Alberti's mythical life, his literary and pictorial work, his unwavering political commitment, and his thirty-nine years of exile in France, Argentina and Italy are all reflected on the panels with rigorous fidelity. From his first book of poems, Marinero en tierra (1924), to Canciones para altair (1989) and his latest volume of memories, La Arboleda perdida (1996), his work has been an example of an intense life, fully dedicated to artistic creation
