Jose Luis Galloso Bullfighting Museum

The José Luis Galloso Bullfighting Museum, which was founded by a private association, is the first one of its kind in El Puerto de Santa María. The José Luis Galloso Bullfighting Club and Bodegas El Cortijo joined forces to give this city a new cultural referent and at the same time a new atraction to both local and foreign visitors.

It goes without saying that bullfighting is an ephemeral art of that is dispersed in the arena and remains unforgotten in the memory and the eyes of those who witnessed it in its temples and cathedrals.

With the help of techniques like photography and taxidermy, videos, books, posters, sculptures, music, prizes, trophies, matador's outfits, and typical bullfighting tools, the José Luis Galloso Bullfighting Museum intends to transmit visitors that the dance of Life an Death, elevated by the plasticity of the art of bullfighting, creates a halo of glory where fear disappears and a feeling that constitutes the roots of a lifestyle and culture is developed.

In this museum, you can see José Luis Galloso's meteoric career. At first, he was a novillero (`steer-fighter´) without horse who succeeded wherever he went, then he became a novillero with horse, and finally consolidated himself a bullfighter who showed not only excelent skills with the cape -he created a pass of his own named "Gallosina"- but also renovated and perfectly executed the passes for killing the bull.

José Luis Galloso has been a matador of undisputed talent in artistic bullfights.
